Inspired by the visionary, unbuilt design for Japan’s National Stadium by the “Queen of Curves,” architect Zaha Hadid, the new model from OAO’s THE CURVE series embodies her futuristic aesthetics through dynamic, flowing forms. Designed for ultimate comfort in urban environments, it features a 6.5cm-thick sole constructed from two types of EVA with different densities — firmer on the outside for stability, and softer on the inside for a smooth, cushioned feel. This dual-structure sole maximizes performance when walking on concrete and other hard surfaces.
The outsole uses lightweight rubber that combines grip and lightness, incorporating a traditional herringbone pattern reimagined with organic lines for 360-degree traction during lateral and diagonal movements. The result is a highly durable, smooth, and stable stride.
Both the toe and heel feature subtle slopes that promote a natural rolling motion, seamlessly transferring energy from heel strike to toe-off. The upper integrates TPU components for enhanced support and a refined silhouette, while multiple layers of curved panels wrap the foot, creating an iconic and sculptural form.
OAO ORIGINAL SOLE UNIT
Constructed with two types of EVA featuring different levels of firmness — the outer layer provides enhanced stability, while the inner layer offers a softer, more cushioned feel against the foot. Designed to maximize performance and comfort during extended periods of walking or standing on concrete and other hard surfaces.
TPU STABILIZER UNIT
The upper incorporates TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) components to improve stability and fit. This refined structure helps maintain the shoe’s sleek silhouette and reduces deformation even with long-term wear.
