A collection inspired by AKARI, the lighting works of sculptor Isamu Noguchi. The multiple stitch lines arranged throughout, the light and airy choice of materials, and the organic forms are designed to resonate with the supple curves of the bamboo ribs in Noguchi’s light sculptures AKARI, as well as the sense of energy found across his sculptural works.
The simple upper structure, which gently wraps the foot in fabric, echoes the natural, primitive spirit seen in his creations and is composed of only the most essential elements.
VEIL OF CANVAS
Both the upper and lining are crafted from supple, breathable canvas, creating a light and airy feel as if gently wrapped in fabric.
ENGINEERED FOR THE CITY
OAO’s original sole is engineered for comfort in urban living. By combining two types of EVA with different levels of firmness—firmer on the outside for stability and softer on the inside for a smooth, cushioned feel—it maximizes walking performance on concrete and other hard surfaces.
The outsole features a reinterpreted herringbone pattern transformed into organic lines, providing 360-degree traction for lateral and diagonal movements. This design offers exceptional durability and a smooth, resilient walking experience.
