This collaboration model with ADVANCED RESEARCH, a Berlin-based curation platform, is based on OAO's popular "SHELL" model and has been redesigned to reflect ADVANCED RESEARCH's pursuit of culture and aesthetics. Paying homage to the journey of an Edo-period poet exploring Japan's beautiful nature and art, the shoes incorporate the colors, patterns, and textures of clothing and travel gear seen at the time, blending a distinctively Japanese aesthetic with modern technology. The ADVANCED RESEARCH logo is attached to the side flap.
The original SHELL structure, including the split instep and Velcro leather flap, has been inherited, making it easy to put on and take off, and providing an easy fit and comfortable wear.
BALLISTIC NYLON®︎
A water-repellent ballistic nylon that is 5 times stronger than regular nylon. It has high durability against friction and tearing, as well as water repellency.
SLE EVA™ & TPU
Adopts a new sole that combines Vibram's new compound EVA material that enhances softness and lightness with TPU parts that create a sense of stability when walking.
WP-100K™
By impregnating the leather with a specially formulated oil that exhibits excellent waterproofness, it is 100 times more waterproof than ECCO LEATHER's conventional waterproof leather.
Low-repulsion foam insole: Adopts thick low-repulsion foam to provide a soft, comfortable fit and reduce fatigue.
Cork insole
The insole is made of thick natural cork material. Features a soft feel on the feet and moisture absorption and deodorization unique to natural materials.
