SHELL for ADVAVNCED RESEARCH
A collaboration model presented in two colorways has been born, merging the movement of ADVANCED RESEARCH — which continues to research diverse cultures such as technology, craft, and history from around the world, free from the constraints of place and time — with the spirit and style of a poet from the Edo period.
Based on OAO’s popular model “SHELL,” this pair has been redesigned to resonate with the culture and aesthetic values explored by ADVANCED RESEARCH. It serves as an homage to the journey of an Edo-period poet who sought Japan’s beautiful nature and arts. Colors, patterns, and textures inspired by the garments and travel tools of that era are woven throughout the design, creating a shoe where Japanese sensibility meets contemporary technology.
ADVANCED RESEARCH
「ADVANCED RESEARCH」 is a curation platform based in Berlin, Germany.
The platform is run by Lars Holzbrecher, based in Berlin, Germany, and Iain Grainger, based in Manchester, UK, who together operate a research and curation program through Instagram. Their work spans across past archives to the latest technologies, covering architecture, culture, and art, and they continue to report on global movements with a unique perspective.
WEAR & GOODS
In celebration of this collaboration, we will also be releasing a selection of special limited items. These include the “BASHŌ T-SHIRT,” available in two colors and boldly featuring a graphic symbolizing this project on the back, as well as “SHŌFŪ,” a fragrance mist created by the fragrance brand 「AHARE」, designed to capture and express the story of this collaboration.
