OAO will present a preview of its 2026 Autumn / Winter Collection on Saturday, August 29 at the Sogetsu Kaikan in Akasaka, Tokyo.

Designed by Kenzo Tange, the building is home to Heaven, a stone garden by Isamu Noguchi. Within this singular setting, where architecture and sculpture coexist, guests will have the opportunity to discover the new Autumn / Winter collection ahead of its official launch in September.

Following last season, a new zip-up boot joins OAO’s signature AW boot series. Inspired by the work of Richard Serra, the central theme of this season, the design emerges from an interplay of straight lines and curves, resulting in a sculptural form that is distorted yet controlled.

We will also unveil new pieces from WARDROBE, our apparel collection now entering its third season. Alongside a denim collection crafted from selvedge denim, this season introduces a wide-ranging selection of new styles.

Guests will be able to try on the collection in person and place pre-orders at the venue. No reservation is required, so please feel free to visit with friends and experience the collection at your leisure.

This exhibition is an installation that unfolds the concept of the OAO®︎ 2026 AUTUMN / WINTER Collection through space and material.

The setting is Sogetsu Kaikan, where Kenzo Tange’s architecture coexists with Isamu Noguchi’s stone garden Heaven. Emerging within this space is a monumental fabric structure that stands independently while bending and distorting. Formed from a soft material, its shape extends into the surrounding space through curves, inclinations, and tension, engaging the viewer’s physical perception.

From a distance, it appears as a monumental wall or an abstract sculpture. As one approaches, the fibers of the fabric, the tonal variations of persimmon tannin dye, and subtle traces of bleeding and fluctuation gradually come into view. Persimmon tannin dye changes in color over time and in response to its environment, producing an uneven texture derived from natural processes. Rather than existing as a fixed, completed object, the structure inhabits the space as something in a continual state of transformation. This quality resonates with the philosophy of Sogetsu, which has long explored the relationship between nature and form, as well as with the particular context of Sogetsu Kaikan itself.

These forms and textures echo the curves and distortions inspired by the work of sculptor Richard Serra, the central theme of the 2026 AW Collection, and extend into the collection’s material expressions, including uneven dyeing, brushed surfaces, and embossing. “ARC” is an attempt to reconsider the boundaries between material, nature, space, and the body by bringing elements of differing qualities into coexistence within a single space.
