SOMA (Vintage Gray)
SOMA draws inspiration from a shared principle found in traditional Japanese architecture and clothing—layering natural materials to gently envelop the body while preserving a sense of openness. The upper is composed of two supple leather panels, inspired by the construction of a kimono, where folded fabric wraps naturally around the body. As the overlapping panels embrace the foot, the openings created between them form a light, sculptural silhouette defined by negative space.
The footbed features tatami crafted from domestically grown igusa rush grass from Yatsushiro, Kumamoto, bringing the familiar tactile comfort that has long been part of everyday life in Japan. By combining the architectural sensibility of the Japanese home with the enveloping nature of traditional garments, SOMA reinterprets time-honored materials and construction into a contemporary sandal.
