OAO will present a preview of its 2026 Autumn / Winter Collection over two days, Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, at OAO HAUS KYOTO in Gion, Kyoto.

The space will feature an installation composed of mōsen—a traditional textile long cherished in Japan—and red fabric. Within an interior that connects with the streetscape of Kyoto, guests will be invited to discover the new Autumn / Winter collection ahead of its official launch.

Following last year’s collection, a new zip-up boot joins OAO’s signature Autumn / Winter boot series. Inspired by the work of Richard Serra, the central theme of this season, the design emerges from an interplay of straight lines and curves, resulting in a sculptural form that is distorted yet controlled.

New pieces from WARDROBE, OAO’s apparel collection now entering its third season, will also be unveiled. This season presents a diverse range of styles, including a denim collection crafted from selvedge denim.

DRIFT is an installation that translates the shifting seasonal colors of Kyoto into space.

In autumn, Kyoto is transformed by the deep reds of its changing leaves. Echoing this landscape, the interior of OAO HAUS KYOTO is covered with red mōsen felt, while a succession of translucent red fabrics floats overhead.

A quiet expanse of red spreads across the floor, while another red above remains in constant motion, stirred by light, air, and the movement of people. By bringing together mōsen, a textile long used in traditional Japanese spaces, with a contemporary material that drifts lightly in the air while allowing light to pass through, two expressions of red—each carrying a different sense of time—coexist within a single space.

As the fabrics overlap, their depth of color and contours shift according to the viewer’s position and the changing light. At times, they appear as a single plane; at others, as continuous layers of color. Like autumn leaves moving in the wind and transforming with the light, they never settle into a fixed form, but continue to drift through the space.

Autumn leaves coloring the city, traditional mōsen felt, and translucent fabric suspended in the air—elements inherited from the past meet those reinterpreted through a contemporary sensibility. Gently dissolving the boundaries between them, the installation brings together the layers of time accumulated in Kyoto and the landscape OAO envisions for the future, unfolding them throughout the space as one continuous field of red.
